Indiana to add ‘2’ to I-69 exits, mile markers

INDIANAPOLIS — Changes are coming to the mile markers and exits along Interstate 69 from Indianapolis north.

The Indiana Department of Transportation on Monday will begin changing signs by adding the number “2” in front of all the mile markers to account for the extension being built in southern Indiana. So exit 10 will become exit 210.

INDOT will begin making the change Monday at the Interstate 465 interchange and continue on the northbound side of I-69. INDOT says some temporary nighttime lane restrictions will be necessary to allow crews to safely modify overhead signs.

The renumbering is expected to be complete this fall. A new 65-mile section of I-69 between Evansville and the Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center, southwest of Bloomington, is expected to open by the end of the year.
