Culture Bus offers senior summer day trips

The Barrington Area Council on Aging is collaborating with of CJE-SeniorLife to offer the North/Northwest Culture Bus, a series of stimulating day trips designed specifically for people experiencing early memory loss.

There are six remaining trips for the summer season: Wednesdays, Aug. 8, 15, 22, 29; Sept. 12 and 19. Additional trips are being planned for the fall season that begins in October. Each season includes 10 trips.

The Culture Bus, developed and managed by CJE SeniorLife, offers socialization and recreation under the supervision of a trained and experienced professional leader and a group of volunteers.

This program provides two pickup and drop-off points, in Barrington and Deerfield, for the Wednesday outings. The trips leave from Friend Center (on the Weinberg Community for Senior Living Campus of CJE SeniorLife), in Deerfield and also from the Lutheran Church of the Atonement, in Barrington. Morning departure is between 9 and 10 a.m. and return is between 3 and 3:30 p.m. The cost for the program is $75 per trip. Fees include lunch, entrance and materials fees and the driver for the full day, provided by CJE SeniorLife. A scholarship fund is available to assist with fees for participants who apply and qualify.

New participants must preregister for this program. For information and to register, contact Bonnie at BACOA at (847) 852-3890, or (224) 858-4952.
