Award given quid pro quo?

In response to Terry Cosgrove’s letter, “Catholic Conference contradicts itself,” the issue is not about the courage of rape survivors. The issue is that Gov. Pat Quinn chose to give a “Pro-Choice Leadership Award” on behalf of the organization that Mr. Cosgrove heads — Personal PAC, a lobbying group that raises money to elect pro-abortion candidates.

Personal PAC donated nearly $500,000 in cash and in-kind donations to Quinn’s 2010 campaign. Quinn last spring appointed Mr. Cosgrove to the Illinois Human Rights Commission, a part-time position that annually pays nearly $47,000 plus health and pension benefits.

It’s bad enough that Quinn, who professes to be Catholic, supports a pro-abortion lobbying group. That he is participating in this blatant quid pro quo is shameless.

Mr. Quinn should stop pretending to be Catholic. You can’t be Catholic and pro-abortion.
