No fooling: It looks like we have a record-setting day

No fooling - it's in the 80s today.

It appears the Chicago area has set a new high temperature for the day. As of 2:55 p.m., the National Weather Service was unofficially reporting 83 degrees at O'Hare Airport -- one degree warmer than the record 82 degrees.

The only downfall to the warmth will be winds of 25 mph+ with some gusts nearing 40 mph.

If you're wondering, the record high temperature for April 1 was set in 1946, meteorologists from the National Weather Service said.

Meteorologists said it's the first 80-degree day since reaching 82 degrees in mid-September.

The area could reach a second 80-degree Friday before temperatures fall back to the normal ranges.

Meteorologists said it would be in the high 50's and low 60's over the weekend, with rain showers possible Saturday. Easter Sunday is also expected to be clear with temperatures reaching the low 60s.
