NCH welcomes new chief financial officer

Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights has hired Stephen Scogna as its new executive vice president and chief financial officer. Scogna, 52, starts on Monday, April 4.

Scogna comes to NCH from the Provena Health System, most recently serving as chief executive officer of Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. His background covers 30 years in healthcare and corporate finance. He replaces Michael Zenn, who departed NCH in December.

“Steve is a sound finance executive who has achieved success on many levels,” said Bruce Crowther, NCH's president and CEO. “His strong financial leadership and in-depth knowledge of hospital operations will be critical as we continue to work through the budget impacts of a tough economy.”

Prior to his time at Provena, Scogna served in financial leadership roles with what is now the Aria Health System in Philadelphia and Catholic Health Initiatives in Denver. He also worked in the Healthcare Consulting division of Ernst and Young in Philadelphia early in his career. Scogna is a graduate of Villanova University and holds a CPA certificate. He resides in Naperville with his wife and youngest son.

“I did miss being on the financial side of a hospital, and I'm looking forward to this new challenge in my career,” Scogna said. “Northwest Community is a nice fit for me, and the hospital has a great reputation in the suburbs.”
