Chicago police officer shoots knife-wielding man

CHICAGO — Chicago police say an officer responding to a fight between two drivers shot one of the men after he came at her with a knife.

The incident occurred just before 2 a.m. Saturday on a street in the heart of downtown.

The two men began fighting as a result of a traffic accident. One of them drew a knife and tried to attack the other driver. He also injured a security guard who attempted to intervene.

A police sergeant arriving at the scene shot and injured the man after he refused to drop the weapon. He and the security guard were taken to hospitals.
