2 men held after authorities raid home

Authorities arrested two men and seized cocaine, marijuana, pills, and a gun from a rented home on Geneva’s southeast side Friday morning.

Kane County Sheriff’s deputies seized 57 grams of cocaine, 119 grams of high-grade marijuana, 34 assorted pills and a Glock .45-caliber handgun from a home in the 400 block of Chalmers Street in a predawn raid.

Hector Romero-Luna Jr., 34, and his nephew, Julio Rubio, 21, both of the 400 block of Chalmers, were arrested on a variety of charges, according to police. Both are due in bond call Saturday.

Romero-Luna Jr. was charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, four counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of cannabis with the intent to deliver, possession of cannabis, and possession of a firearm without a Firearm Owners Identification card.

The most serious charge carries a 6- to 30-year prison term if convicted.

Rubio was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of cannabis. These charges carry up to 3 years in prison but probation also is an option.

“We got an anonymous tip that somebody was dealing drugs over there,” said Kane County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Patrick Gengler, who noted authorities investigated for about two months.
