Glen Ellyn’s Tavern Day a step back in time

Visitors will be able to step back to the time of the pioneers when the Glen Ellyn Historical Society celebrates Tavern Day from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, at Stacy’s Historic Corners, 800 N. Main St.

The annual event will help visitors understand the triumphs, hardships and village life of pioneers, as well as the tall stories and music of the era.

The setting will be made even more realistic with the presence of animals from Goodrich’s Farm and an 1860s-style one-room schoolhouse that will be in session all day.

Visitors will be able to participate in pioneer crafts, chores, games and stories. There also will be an Apple Festival Bake Sale with pastries and cookies.

Tickets bought in advance are $6 for adults, $3 for children and $20 for families and are available until Sept. 29. Tickets bought on the day of the festival are $8 for adults, $4 for children and $25 for families.

Advance tickets can be purchased at McChesney Miller Grocery Store, 400 Crescent Blvd.; Just the Book Store, 75 Main St.; and Stacy’s Corner Store, 800 N. Main St.
