GOP hopes we’ve forgotten Bush?

We’ve recently learned that George W. Bush, the ostensible leader of the Republican Party, its presumptive standard-bearer and its most recent holder of the presidency (less than three and a half years ago), will not only not be speaking at the upcoming Republican convention, he will not even be in attendance.

Is the Republican Party embarrassed by Bush? Are GOP leaders hoping our memories are so poor that we’ve forgotten about his eight years in office? It certainly appears so.
