Witnesses sought in Libertyville attack

Libertyville Police are searching for witnesses to a robbery outside of a tavern.

Police officials said a resident reported he was attacked in a parking lot in the 100 block of Lake Street about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5.

The victim told police he was walking to his car when he was approached by two men who shoved him to the ground and demanded money, officials said. The victim refused to give up the cash, so the two beat him with a baseball bat and their fists, police said.

The offenders took $40 out of his wallet and fled the area, police said.

One offender is described as tall with a stocky build and a mustache and wearing a blue hat. The other offender was said to be tall and skinny with dark hair.

Police are checking nearby security cameras to see if a better description of the offenders is available.

The victim was injured in the attack, but did not require medical attention.

Anyone with information about the attack is urged to contact the Libertyville Police Department at (847) 362-8310.
