Son of former Chicago Bears coach charged with DUI

Michael P. Ditka, son of former Chicago Bears player and head coach Mike Ditka, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol by Deerfield Police Wednesday, authorities said.

According to the police report, Ditka’s black Hummer H3 was parked in the 600 block of Deerfield Road when he was spotted by police at 11:50 p.m. Wednesday.

Ditka, 49, was given a field sobriety test and failed, then arrested on suspicion of DUI, the report states. He was released by police after posting $100 cash bond and has a court date of May 11.
