Why all the lawsuits over accidents?

Isn’t this all what we expected? There is always someone or some company that is responsible for any accident. When I saw there were victims in the Glenview train derailment and that one was a personal injury attorney, there was one of his business associates on the spot to cry fowl. Attorney Michael LaMonica stated in the article, “We refuse to accept the answer that it was hot outside.” I sure thought it was hot. Is he claiming that roads, railroads, bridges are not subject to extreme weather conditions?

It was originally thought there were no casualties in this accident, but as they were removing all the debris, it was found there were victims. How sad. It is one of the times where someone was in the wrong place at the wrong time. We need to accept the fact that bad things can happen to good people. Next, someone may try suing nature because of the homes destroyed in a tornado.

On Page 8 of the same paper (July 7) there is another article stating “More suburban roads buckle in heat.” The papers stated that triple-digit temperatures contributed to buckling on more that 30 suburban roads in the state highway system. What if there were auto accidents because of this? Whom do we blame?

I was left with the impression by the lawyers that the people clearing away the accident were trying to cover up something. If they hadn’t gotten to clearing it as quickly as they did, people would have been complaining they were loafing. Oh, for the day where we are not such a litigious society and have to seek someone to blame for acts of nature. Obviously, we pray for the couple and their family.
