Pipe bomb found in northern Illinois

CAPRON — Officials in northern Illinois say a bomb squad was called to dispose of a pipe bomb in Boone County.

The Rockford Register Star reports (http://bit.ly/ptGyOO) that the Winnebago County Bomb Squad responded to the scene on Monday morning. Boone County Sheriff's Lt. Jerry Ashens says a township employee who was mowing grass found the pipe bomb in a ditch.

Police are investigating the incident.
