Obama speech more harmful than good

Dec. 7, 1941, has had a long history of being a day we reflect on for the bombing of Pearl Harbor and how that act drew the United States into World War II. It was certainly, as the president said, a day of infamy. Only a very few Americans remember and can put into context this event with Sept. 11, 2001.

Unfortunately, on this day this year, President Obama chose to make war on the Republicans with whom he had made a tax compromise by calling them hostage takers and his own liberal Democratic Party by calling them sanctimonious. There was no need for his speech. It only made him look unpresidential. “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt” (with credit to Abraham Lincoln). And to those Americans from the Greatest Generation, I thank you. Hopefully, we can correct our problems and salvage the great country you gave us.
