Jordan's 17 lead St. Charles East seniors vs. Larkin

It was a fitting Senior Night for St. Charles East's senior-laden girls basketball team Friday.

All 8 seniors got into the scoring act, led by Danielle Jordan's game-high 17 points, during the Saints' 69-35 Upstate Eight Conference victory over Larkin (0-20, 0-7).

Classmates Kala Sigona and Jacki Leibforth added 11 and 10 points, respectively, as the Saints (13-10, 7-1) kept their conference title hopes alive intact.

"Just to come out and have a fun game and have everybody play - it's great," said Jordan, who had all of her points in the first 3 quarters while adding 9 rebounds and 4 assists.

"We made some mistakes but we were having a blast. I've been playing with these girls basically my whole life so it was great to finally be all together again on the court."

St. Charles East scored the game's first 8 points and jumped out to a commanding 20-5 first-quarter lead. The Saints led 37-14 at halftime.

"That's what we were hoping for - to give them a lot of playing time, and it worked out well for us," said Saints coach Lori Drumtra. "It was a nice night for the seniors."

Lexi Baltes, who was honored between the third and fourth quarters after becoming the second Saints' girl to reach the 1,000-point career mark last Tuesday against Oswego, finished with 8 points, while Kelly Pottle had 6.

Freshman guard Alison Smith paced the Royals with 8 points. Larkin has now lost 20 consecutive games.
