Discover a Dinorrific Summer at Arlington Heights Library

Kids are invited to a "Dinorrific!" summer at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, 500 N. Dunton Ave. Beginning June 6, register for the summer reading program in Kids' World or on the bookmobile. Keep track of summer reads to win prizes, including book prizes.

"When Teens Ruled the Earth: Eat. Win. Create. Rule!" is the summer reading event for teens. Enter to win iPod shuffles in June, an iPad Nano in July, or an iPod Touch in August, courtesy of the Friends of the Library.

Adults are also invited to "Unearth Good Books," and enter for prize drawings at the Welcome Desk.

On Saturday, June 25, "Fossils in Your Back Yard," will offer school age kids and their families a multimedia tour of a nearby geological site – register at www.ahml.info

During July, a special traveling exhibit, "ORIGINS: The Dawn of Dinosaurs," will be on display in the second-floor Hendrickson Room. ORIGINS will give viewers a glimpse into early Triassic life – 225 million years ago – when the two earliest and most famous dinosaurs, Eoraptor and Herrerasaurus, thrived. The exhibit will be open during regular library hours with free admission, and is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

The Library's Teen Advisory board created a dino-riffic video to get kids excited for this summer. Check it out at www.youtube.com/watch?v=NX38Dco2GzY.

Plans are hatching for a dino-themed, July 4 Parade float, which is also funded by the Friends of the Library. If you want more info about the Dinorrific! summer activities, contact Kids' World at (847) 506-2620 or kids@ahml.info
