Chiefs rally to beat Cougars 10-9
PEORIA — An early 6-0 lead quickly got away from the Kane County Cougars on Monday night as they ended up with a 10-9 loss to the Peoria Chiefs, who finished off a three-game sweep at O'Brien Field.
Justin Trapp doubled to begin the contest and scored on a groundout from Jorge Bonifacio to put the Cougars (33-31) up by a run. They added 5 more in the second with Yowill Espinal singling home Michael Antonio, Tim Ferguson driving home a pair with a home run, Bonifacio bouncing a run-scoring single to left, and Lane Adams doing the same.
Peoria (32-32) roared back for 5 runs of their own in the bottom of the second against Aaron Brooks. Brooks coughed up a dozen hits in 4 2/3 innings while allowing 9 runs.
