Elgin’s ‘Concerts in the Park’ series opens

Submitted by Fox Valley Men of Harmony

The Fox Valley Men of Harmony will host the opening free concert of Elgin’s 2012 Concerts in the Park series at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 24 at the Wing Park band shell, 1000 Wing St. on Elgin’s west side.

It will be joined by the innovative Second City Barbershop Chorus of Rockford and the dynamic Brotherhood Barbershop Chorus from Schaumburg.

Each chorus will perform a 20-minute set of their own best songs and then join together in a mass chorus to sing a spectacular set of spiritual and patriotic favorites.

The HarmonyFest also will feature the popular senior quartet and international contestant, “Easy Days” from Greendale, Wis.

This concert is being partially funded by the City of Elgin, the Elgin Cultural Arts Commission and the Illinois Arts Council.

Pack a picnic, bring a lawn chair and come out to enjoy live music.

The Wing Park concert series will continue at 7 p.m. Tuesdays with The Chi-Town-Showstoppers on June 26; Windy City Country Band on July 10; Aurora American Legion Band on July 17; Midwest Dueling Pianos on July 24; He Said, She Said on July 31; and Band of Mid America on Aug. 28.
