Elgin man in critical condition after motorcycle crash
A 42-year-old man remained hospitalized Monday with serious injuries after he was thrown from his motorcycle in Elgin Sunday night, according to police.
Police said the driver was heading east on Big Timber Road near McLean Boulevard when he left the roadway and was thrown from the motorcycle at about 8:16 p.m. Sunday.
The man, whose last known address was in Elgin, suffered major injuries and was in critical condition Sunday night, according to police. As of Monday, the man remained at Sherman Hospital, but police said the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
Police said alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
The eastbound lanes of Big Timber were closed between Todd Farm Drive and McLean Boulevard for more than two hours during the police investigation.
The man was only person on the motorcycle, and he was not wearing a helmet, said Elgin police Lt. Dan O’Shea.
There were no other vehicles involved in the crash, according to the preliminary investigation.
