Des Plaines fines restaurant $3,000, suspends liquor license

Des Plaines city officials have suspended the liquor license of Stadium Sports Club & Pizza, 769 Holiday Lane, for 21 days and fined the restaurant $3,000 for allowing a waitress, her boyfriend and a teenager to sell drugs on the premises, authorities said.

The decision by the city’s liquor commission last Friday comes after police accused Amber Hane, 21, and Damian Zabielski, 20, both of Des Plaines, and an unidentified 17-year-old man of selling drugs multiple times to an undercover cop at the restaurant in March.

Hane is charged with three counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and permitting unlawful use of a building, police said.

Zabielski is charged with two counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

The teenager is charged with two felony counts of unlawful delivery of cannabis, police said.

Stadium’s liquor license was revoked June 8.

The commission also ordered the restaurant to install a driver’s license reader and two additional security cameras, to card patrons who purchase alcohol and to close a separate entrance to the restaurant’s beer garden so customers can only enter through the restaurant.

The restaurant has 30 days to pay the fine; the owner can choose when not to sell liquor to complete the remaining 14 days of suspension between now and December. The restaurant’s liquor license will be on probation for a full year, officials said.
