Celebrate survivors, remember loved ones at annual cancer event

Why walk alone?

Let’s face it. It’s hard to find someone whose life has not been touched by cancer.

Whether it’s you, your family, friend, or neighbor, a cancer diagnosis starts a roller-coaster ride of fear, anxiety and questions. Wellness Place can help by providing counseling, support and education at no charge to those affected by cancer.

Join Wellness Place in its quest to ensure no one walks their cancer journey alone. The second annual Wellness Place Community Cancer 3K Walk/5K Fun Run will take place Saturday, May 14, at Harper College in Palatine. Every step makes a difference in the lives of those facing cancer.

Event activities include a 3K Walk and 5K “Fun” Run followed by a celebration of survivors and those touched by cancer. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with the 5K Fun Run starting at 9:30 a.m., followed by the 3K Walk at 10 a.m.

“Last year this event drew over 700 cancer survivors and supporters, who gathered to raise awareness, celebrate life and remember loved ones. It was a beautiful day for so many and we are looking forward to another memorable event for 2011,” said Pam Reiss, executive director for Wellness Place.

Help others who use Wellness Place services today, and those who will enter its doors tomorrow. Proceeds generated benefit Wellness Place cancer-related counseling, education and support programs provided at no charge to survivors, families and caregivers.
