New UIC basketball coach names his staff

Newly named University of Illinois at Chicago basketball coach Howard Moore has named his coaching staff.

Moore announced Friday he has named Al Biancalana, Mike Mennenga and Donnie Kirksey as assistant coaches, and Matt Ryan as director of basketball operations.

Biancalana most recently was the head basketball coach at York Community High School in the Chicago suburb of Elmhurst. He was also an assistant at Bradley University.

Mennenga was an assistant coach at Central Connecticut State, and Kirksey is joining Moore's staff after coaching basketball at Hyde Park Career Academy. He has also coached at DePaul and Chicago State.

Ryan recently served as video coordinator on the Wisconsin staff, where Moore was an assistant coach.

Moore replaced Jimmy Collins who retired Aug. 31, after 14 seasons with the Flames.
