Hanover Park accepts bid for electric aggregation

Hanover Park has accepted a bid from First Energy Solutions Corp. to provide electricity supply for the village’s electric aggregation program. Officials said the rate is 4.53 cents per kilowatt hour, representing savings of 44 percent compared to ComEd’s June 1 rate of 8 cents. The rate is guaranteed for one year and expected to go into effect later this summer. It’s an opt-out program, so eligible customers automatically become part of the program but can opt out at any time without an early termination fee. If ComEd’s rate falls, First Energy will either match it or move customers back to ComEd. Officials cautioned residents that solicitations from other retail electric suppliers are not affiliated with the village. For more information, call (630) 823-5600 or visit hpil.org.
