Fire destroys vacant Lake Zurich home, police investigating

No one was injured in a two-alarm fire that gutted a vacant Lake Zurich home Friday night.

Firefighters called to the 200 block of Pine Tree Road at about 9:28 p.m. on Friday found the home was fully engulfed in flames, and immediately called for additional trucks and manpower because of the severity of the blaze, officials said.

Crews from Arlington Heights, Barrington, Buffalo Grove, Cary, Countryside, Deerfield, Fox River Grove, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Long Grove, Palatine, Palatine Rural, Wheeling and Wauconda were brought to the scene to help put out the blaze, while firefighters from Algonquin, Crystal Lake, Lake Forest and Libertyville helped staff fire stations in Lake Zurich while the fire was tended to, authorities said.

The home was a complete loss, officials said, and damage to adjacent homes were minimal. One family was displaced for the night due to some damage from the fire next door, officials said.

Officials from the Lake Zurich Fire Department and Lake Zurich Police Department are investigating the cause of the fire.
