Villa Park man charged with sexually abusing three children

Bail was set at $1 million Wednesday for a Villa Park man accused of sexually abusing three young girls since the late 1990s.

Jose Perez-Huerta, 52, of the 1S100 block of Radford Lane, appeared in DuPage County bond court on charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and predatory criminal sexual assault.

He is accused of repeatedly molesting a now-10-year-old girl when she was 5. While investigating that case, the DuPage County Children’s Center identified two other victims he sexually abused in the late 1990s, according to prosecutors.

Assistant State’s Attorney Anne Therieau said all three victims knew the defendant. She said the earlier victims — then 6 to 8 years old — were abused after Perez-Huerta invited them to “play house.” He instructed all of them to keep quiet, she said.

“He told (the most recent victim) not to tell anyone or she would be in big trouble and her family would make fun of her,” Therieau said in court.

Judge Elizabeth Sexton set bail at $1 million, meaning Perez-Huerta would have to post $100,000 to bond out of jail. He was ordered to surrender his passport, wear a tracking device, and have no contact with minors if he is released.

His next court date is June 19 before Judge Kathryn Creswell.
