Elgin Children’s Chorus to hold auditions
The Elgin Children’s Chorus, which will be entering its 27th season in the fall, will hold auditions for boys and girls ages 7 to 16 from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 10.
If you or someone you know loves to sing and enjoys learning in a fun, educational environment, call (847) 931-7464, to schedule your audition.
The Elgin Children’s Chorus rehearses and performs in the Visual and Performing Arts Center at Elgin Community College, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.
Being a member of the Elgin Children’s Chorus has proved to be a choice that led a number of chorus alumni to seek further education and a career in music. For some, the joy of singing, and building lasting friendships are the most meaningful rewards of their time with the chorus.
The Elgin Children’s Chorus has performed with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra on many occasions, as well as once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to perform with Elgin natives who formed BarlowGirl; singing on tour in cathedrals in France, Great Britain and Germany; enjoying a clinic at The Juilliard School of Music in New York City, among others.
As many alumni have mentioned, their experiences with the chorus were some of the most meaningful of their lives.
The chorus rehearses Mondays from 5:15 to 7:45 p.m., and consists of four various ensembles, determined by age and vocal ability.
Rehearsals begin Monday, Sept. 10.
The cost of tuition is $390, plus music/folder usage fee and dress rehearsal polo. Choristers are also responsible for purchase of their formal concert uniform.
Partial scholarships applications are available on request.
