Loss drops Cougars from first-half playoff race

Kane County (34-33) carried the early advantage in the contest as Tim Ferguson singled to begin the game and scored on a passed ball. Later in the opening inning, Jorge Bonifacio ripped a single and scored on a hit from Michael Antonio.

Jason Mitchell worked 5 innings and limited the River Bandits (33-34) to a run on 3 hits. Quad Cities picked up their first run in the second when Luis Mateo cracked a double to score David Medina.

The Cougars added a run to their advantage in the fifth inning when Bonifacio belted a double to score Danny Mateo.

Cody Fassold (1-2) replaced Mitchell and got the final out in the sixth before surrendering 3 runs in the seventh.
