Thirty Big Ten players taken in MLB draft
Thirty Big Ten conference players were taken in the Major League Baseball draft this week, including four from Illinois and one from Northwestern.
Right-handed pitcher Matt Milroy was the highest Illinois pick, as he was taken in the 11th round by the Miami Marlins. Center fielder Willie Argo was taken in the 22nd round by the Tampa Bay Rays, third baseman Jordan Parr was chosen in the 26th round by the Los Angeles Dodgers, and right-handed pitcher Kevin Johnson went to the New York Yankees in the 31st round.
Northwestern’s lone pick was catcher Geoff Rowan, who was taken in the 39th round by the Rays.
