‘Teaching life through song’ aim for Elgin Chorus camps
Submitted by Elgin Children’s Chorus
There’s still time to register for the Elgin Children’s Chorus Summer Camp, to be held at Elgin Community College, June 18-23, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Visit elginchildrenschorus.org to register your child, age 7-16, for this one-week camp featuring Broadway tunes. They will be instructed by the choral directors. Camp ends with a finale concert at Elgin Community College Visual and Performing Arts Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. The cost is $130.
Children will get a taste of membership in the Elgin Children’s Chorus, as they rehearse in the Visual and Performing Arts rehearsal rooms. They will receive a free Chorus T-shirt, to be worn for the concert, as well as have the opportunity to audition for the full-season Chorus, which runs from September through May.
The Elgin Children’s Chorus is finalizing its 26th year of “teaching life through song” to children who love to sing and perform. Instructors teach the secrets of sight-singing, spend time with rhythm and dance, and work diligently with the children, so that by Saturday morning, each camp member will be fully prepared for the concert, which will include members of the Concert Choir.
