Chicago woman killed in tollway crash

A 43-year-old Chicago woman was killed Thursday when her car was hit in the middle lanes of traffic on the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway late Thursday.

Dafni Petroova, of the 4900 block of West Peterson Avenue in Chicago, was pronounced dead at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge at 10:04 p.m., said officials from the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Her cause of death was determined as multiple injuries in a motor vehicle accident. The collision remains under investigation, officials from the Illinois State Police said.

Petroova was traveling east on I-90 near Golf Road at 9:09 p.m. when her car broke down in one of the middle lanes of traffic, officials said.

A 2005 Honda, also traveling east, hit her 1999 Nissan from behind, sending it hard into a guard rail, officials said.

Petroova was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, officials said.
