BACOA offers senior health insurance consultation

The Barrington Area Council on Aging provides seniors with information on health insurance questions through the Senior Health Insurance Program.

SHIP counselors can answer questions about Medicare, Medicare Supplement insurance, Medicare Advantage plans, prescription drug coverage, Medicare appeals, new prevention and wellness benefits, and a variety of other insurance-related topics.

Counselors will assist low-income seniors in obtaining additional assistance with their Part B Premium through Medicare savings plans and with prescription coverage through Illinois Cares and Social Security Extra Help.

SHIP is a free counseling service, and training is provided by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Insurance.
