Lindenhurst Park District holds meetings for public input on park
The Lindenhurst Park District board of park commissioners and staff announces two special meetings for the neighbors and general public on the future development of Oak Ridge Park (off Grass Lake Road in Lindenhurst), from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, June 25-26, at the park district community center senior room, 2200 E. Grass Lake Road, Lindenhurst.
The purpose of the meetings is open discussion on the proposed phase one planning of the 18 acre Oak Ridge Park near the Heritage Trails and Providence Woods subdivisions, and across from the Lake County Forest Preserve’s McDonald Woods. The proposed plan includes pedestrian trail linkage, shelters, play splash pad, Frisbee golf course, soccer field, alternate soccer/open play area, vehicle parking lot, and landscaping. Two alternate plans will be displayed with vehicle access from the north, and from the south of the park. This process is all a part of applying for a state matching grant. Without public input and support, it will be difficult obtaining a grant and therefore difficult to move forward on park development.
Lindenhurst park district stresses that now is the time for input on the neighborhood Oak Ridge Park. Funding will hopefully come from a matching grant (ILDNR/OSLAD) applied for by July 1.
