Submitted by David Brian Stuart/Improv Playhouse
Going into its sixth summer season, Improv Playhouse filmmaking campers will gain knowledge in every aspect of film and digital movie making. This year’s film camps have expanded from two to four full two-week sessions.
The following sessions are available for registration: Tween Film Making for grades 5-8 (ages 10-13), June 25 to July 6, at $540 per session; and Teen Film Making for grades 8-12 (ages 14-18), July 9-20 and/or July 23 to Aug. 3, at $560 per session. At Improv Playhouse’s Lake Street Studio, 116 W. Lake St., Libertyville.
Directors are chosen from professional ranks and some of the top filmmaking schools in the country. They engage campers in all of the important elements of preproduction, production and postproduction, learning hands-on filmmaking technique through digital technology and professional software. Campers are immersed in story boarding, shot list creation, casting, shooting and digital film editing. Film campers will be encouraged to bring their digital video cameras if available. All professional equipment, software, digital tape and a duplicated copy of the final edited projects on DVD are included in camp fees. Each session ends with a mini-film fest.
