Lindenhurst YMCA 5K

The Hastings Lake YMCA in Lindenhurst will host its third annual 5K race on Sunday. The race kicks off in the parking lot at 1995 Grass Lake Road, and check-in is at 8 a.m. The race will begin at 8:30 a.m. Runners age 12 and over can preregister at the YMCA’s welcome center for $25, otherwise registration will cost $30 on Sunday. The event is open to the public, including nonmembers, but proceeds will benefit the YMCA. Rhonda Hoekenga, program director, said five people are currently preregistered, but they are expecting 20 participants. “We always like to promote healthy living,” Hoekenga said. “People tend to enjoy doing 5Ks.”
