Run for Anthony is Saturday in Hoffman Estates

The second annual Run for Anthony will take place this Saturday, June 16, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

The 5K run or walk around the lake at High Point Park in Hoffman Estates is an honor of Anthony Sottile, who died at age 17 in February 2011 after a three-year battle with leukemia.

Jules Sottile Campagna started the event last year to honor Sottile, her godson, who loved running. She runs for him daily to music he compiled for her. She calls Sottile her hero, always feeling his presence when she runs.

There will be a picnic after the run, and prizes will be given to each participant.

Registration is $30 for adults and $20 for children 13 and under. Proceeds will go to St. Alexian Brothers Women and Children's Center.

To register or for more information, email Campagna at runningforanthony@gmail.com.
