Lombard Fire responds to restaurant fire, no injuries reported
LOMBARD, Illinois—A fire in the kitchen caused patrons and staff to be evacuated from TGI Friday's restaurant Thursday night.
The Lombard Fire Department responded to an alarm at 8:20 p.m. at the restaurant, located at 601 E. Butterfield Road. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered smoke in the kitchen emanating from a wall behind one of the cooking appliances. The wall was dismantled revealing a charred, smoldering wooden structure. The fire was extinguished. No injuries were reported.
According to Battalion Chief Ron Rakosnik, the cause of the fire is related to a cooking appliance. Damage is estimated between $30,000 and $40,000. The business owners indicated that repairs will begin immediately in hopes of reopening the business as soon as possible.
The Lombard Fire Department was assisted by Lombard Police Department and Glenside, Lisle-Woodridge and Oakbrook Terrace Fire Protection districts.
