Border towns doing something right
We in America can contribute the most to suppressing the cocaine drug problem by recognizing that we are the biggest consumer of cocaine, at least in the western world.
We think of Mexico being the biggest problem, but the facts are that the largest consumption of drugs occurs right in the U.S.A. Accepting this fact has to make us ready to confront the evil dope forces right in our own country, and here is where the fight must be fought.
The four American cities with the lowest crime rate are San Diego, Phoenix, El Paso and Austin - all border states. It seems as if the places with the most problems are the big cities in the north, East Coast and Florida. This is where the battle ought to be fought.
Immigrant use is related to the problem, but it seems not to be the overriding factor in drug abuse that I thought it was. Four hundred thousand illegal immigrants were deported from America in 2008, and other large numbers in 2009 and 2010. These amounts of illegals are more than I realized were being deported.
Cities like Chicago, New York, San Francisco need to examine from their local records who the local drug distributors are and attack them. However, if you feel our borders still are unsafe, call Bill Foster or Dick Durbin immediately and demand they do something about it. I understand that there is currently a $600 million bill requiring the buildup of the Mexican border control to keep intruders from carrying marijuana and cocaine into the U.S. A comment to Durbin and Foster would be helpful to thank them for being part of this program.
