Dining events: Students serve up meals

ECC Spartan Terrace opens

Elgin Community College's student-run restaurant is now open for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday for dinner. Lunch, prepared by students in the college's culinary arts program, includes $10 entrees such as southwestern seared pork tenderloin, turkey and smoked Gouda panini, and maple-ginger glazed salmon. Dinner's $10 menu features entrees, such as veal Marsala and stuffed chicken breast. Spartan Terrace Restaurant at the ECC Culinary Arts Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. (847) 214-7382.

Fiesta at Fat Rosie's

Fat Rosie's pairs its Tamarindo margaritas and selection of Patron tequilas with a specially crafted four-course meal at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5. The menu includes shredded venison tostaditas, ahi tuna tartar, wild boar manchamanteles, grilled prawns in a vanilla sauce and chocolate cajeta tress leches cake. $60 per person. Seasons 52's fall

Fresh produce and seasonal flavors are on Seasons 52‘s fall menu. New items include grilled portobello mushroom and five cheese flatbread, artichoke and goat cheese flatbread, organic tomato carpaccio, Half Moon Bay brussels sprouts, Prince Edward Island mussels, Maple Leaf Farms sesame duck salad, Manchester Farms all-natural grilled quail, roasted harvest squash trio and mini pumpkin pie.
