Former SW Ind. town official admits embezzlement

POSEYVILLE, Ind. — A former southwestern Indiana official has admitted embezzling more than $53,000.

Former Poseyville Clerk-Treasurer Christina Lupfer pleaded guilty to theft, official misconduct and three counts each of forgery and credit card fraud Friday in Posey Superior Court.

Special Judge Maurice O’Connor sentenced Lupfer to four years on the forgery charges and a total of two years concurrently on the remaining charges. He ordered the time served ton community corrections so she can pay nearly $24,000 in restitution. Defense attorney Glenn Grampp sought leniency because Lupfer had no criminal history and the crimes occurred when she was raising a child alone.

Poseyville is 18 miles northwest of Evansville.
