Letter writer hit the mark on church

Just writing to say I agree totally with remarks in an April 17 letter regarding the Catholic Church and its rules and laws and authority of pope regarding faith and morals. This was Peter Nordlund from Barrington who said Robert Harrison’s letter of March 24 was filled with distortions and half truths.

Individual conscience is not the ultimate arbiter in matters of faith and morals.

Second, I agree Christ gave teaching authority to the pope for the Universal Church.

Third, the Catholic Church teaches natural family planning as way of regulating births.

Fourth, Western civilization is facing a shortage of people, and overpopulation is not an issue.
