China challenges U.S. trade penalties at WTO
GENEVA — China has filed challenges with the World Trade Organization against U.S. anti-subsidy tariffs on 22 Chinese goods including steel and paper.
China's mission to the WTO accused Washington in a statement Friday of misusing trade remedies to protect American companies.
The cases add to widening disputes between Beijing and Washington, two of the world's biggest traders, over access to each others' markets.
The Chinese statement said the disputed U.S. measures affect Chinese exports to the United States worth a total of $7.3 billion.
