Cars hit by rocks, not gunshots, on Chicago road
Police now say it was rocks — not gunshots — that damaged six cars along the Chicago Skyway.
A three-mile stretch of the toll road was shut down for about two hours late Wednesday as police investigated a report of two suspects firing at vehicles entering the roadway.
A pile of rocks was found in the area on the city’s far South Side, near the Illinois-Indiana state line. Police also say they found no ballistic evidence of any shots being fired.
They believe the rock throwers were positioned on an on-ramp to Interstate 90 at Indianapolis Blvd. and 105th St.
No one was injured.
