Bring the family for Gilberts’ Community Days

The village of Gilberts will host Community Days Thursday, May 31, through Sunday, June 3, at Town Center Park, off Route 72 and Center Drive.

Festival hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday, May 31, and Friday, June 1; noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 2; and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 3.

This festival will feature Windy City Amusements carnival, a petting zoo, a magician, food vendors, a beer garden, and a four-day lineup of local and name act entertainment on the main stage.

The main stage will feature a variety of music, including rock, country, folk, and blues. Headlining Friday, June 1, will be American English, the Beatles tribute band, with their only Northwest suburban appearance in June.

Saturday will feature Deep Six, a local classic rock band, and opening for them is Fam Jam, a returning favorite from last year.

Community Days currently has 13 food vendors with menu offerings such as Italian, Mexican, Chinese, French, American, confections and a pig roast on Saturday. A beer tent is available, along with a selection of other spirits.

On Thursday, May 31, the musical entertainment will start with classic rockers Racket at 6 p.m., followed by alternative band Music Explained at 7:30 p.m. and Smokehouse at 8 p.m.

On Friday, June 1, Direct Injection will perform modern and classic rock at 6 p.m., followed by folk musician Kristin McFadden at 7 p.m. and Beatles tribute band American English at 8 p.m.

On Saturday, June 3, rock band Castillo will perform at noon, followed by folk musician Kristin McFadden at 1 p.m., Blues band Universal Slim and the Blue Kangaroos at 2 p.m., acoustic guitarist Dickie Abbott at 3:30 p.m., Fleetwood Mac tribute band The Chain at 4 p.m., classic rock band Fam Jam at 6 p.m., and headliner Deep Six at 8:30 p.m.

On Sunday, June 3, Blues band Aces will perform at 1 p.m., followed by high-energy rock band Stormcrow at 3 p.m., and Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute band Swampthing at 5 p.m.
