Hawthorn Woods recycling upgrade:

Throughout May, Hawthorn Woods residents are invited to upgrade their recycling totes to a wheeled, 96-gallon tote with a lid. Waste Management will replace the old, smaller recycling bin with the new, larger bin at no cost. The new program aims to continue developing a recycling program that diverted 643 tons of recyclables from landfills during the last three months of 2011, according to Hawthorn Woods Management Analyst David Fitzgerald. Residents should call Waste Management at (800) 796-9696 to order the wheeled tote. The free upgrade will be made available every May.
