Police shoot gunman after search of C. Ind. park
NOBLESVILLE, Ind. — State police say officers shot a man who pointed a gun toward them after he had fired a round into the air at a central Indiana park.
State police Sgt. Ray Poole says SWAT team members had been searching for the man in the rural Hamilton County park along the White River when they found him early Wednesday.
Poole says the man didn’t follow orders to drop the gun and swung it aggressively toward officers when they fired.
A Hamilton County officer first spotted the man with a gun late Tuesday in Lafayette Trace Park a few miles north of Noblesville. The man ran away, prompting about a three-hour search for him.
Police didn’t immediately say how seriously the man was wounded or why he was in the park.
