Toddler struck by car in Hanover Park

A 3-year-old boy exiting a car in a parking lot was struck by a vehicle in Hanover Park Friday afternoon, authorities said.

The accident occurred about 4:50 p.m. on the 6700 block of Pine Tree, according to Deputy Police Chief Tom Cortese.

The boy sustained only a minor injury and was taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates as a precaution, Cortese said.

It wasn’t immediately known if citations were issued, but scanner reports indicated the driver of the vehicle called police to report the accident.
