Chicago Teachers Union boots `rat’ member for life
The Chicago Teachers Union has ousted a member for life for, the union says, feeding information about a union meeting to a public schools official.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports Marc Wigler is accused of sending labor relations chief Rachel Resnick an email detailing information union officials told delegates during an August meeting.
Union Vice President Jesse Sharkey says one of the things Wigler mentioned was that delegates were told to stop telling Chicago Public Schools officials everything going on in the union.
Wigler, who is a resource teacher, declined to comment Tuesday. His lawyer, Andy Staes, said Wigler plans to appeal his banishment.
Staes said Resnick is a friend of Wigler, and the email wasn’t harmful to the union.
The ban means Wigler cannot vote in CTU elections or attend meetings.
