Barrington public works director to retire
After 24 years with Barrington’s Public Works department and five as its director, Dennis Burmeister will retire July 3.
Village Manager Jeff Lawler credits Burmeister for Barrington’s well-informed preparations for both electricity aggregation and the incursion of the emerald ash borer.
Dennis is always someone who takes these projects to heart and doesn’t do things halfway,” Lawler said.
Burmeister said he and his wife will make their previous hobby of running a small coffee concession business their full-time work, traveling to fairs and festivals around the country. Lawler said the search for Burmeister’s permanent replacement will likely continue for a time after his departure.
