'Rest of the story' is only too obvious

The rest of the story to the "rest of the story" letter in the Jan. 16 Daily Herald is only too obvious and is this: The letter's facts are scrambled in a hodgepodge mix of blandishments yielding an aroma lacking in patriotism. Items:

"Our once-great nation." Aren't we still a great nation? Why not?

"Self-destructive behavior over domestic terrorist attacks." Responding to almost countless attacks of terrorism is self-destructive? Since when?

"The core issue of our insecurity." The letter writer never says what this is, or did I miss it?

"Threaten further erosion of our privacy rights." Why should we allow terrorists to take advantage of those "privacy rights."

"Poor, innocent America has mysteriously been targeted by Islamic extremists for random attacks." Huh? Didn't he hear of 9/11?

We're not trying to occupy either country." We're frantically searching for an exit strategy.

Our "bomb-toting drones that kill many innocent civilians." What about terrorist suicide bombers who slaughter innocent men, women and children, and roadside bombs killing our soldiers?

Iran's "legitimate and legal right to develop nuclear energy." Where has the letter writer been? The leading nations of planet Earth oppose Iran's threat to wipe out Israel with nuclear weapons. This should not concern us?

We "now seek to interfere in the political upheaval in Yemen." Why not? Aren't they growing terrorists there?

"The Military-Industrial-Congressional Complex." Please. To juxtapose all these terms together is a figment of the letter writer's imagination. I am proud of our armed forces scouring the world to eradicate terrorists. They need our support. They already know "the rest of the story."
