Glenbard North picks up fifth no-hitter

Lilly Fecho struck out 11 in six innings, combining with Lindsey Cherry on Glenbard North’s fifth no-hitter of the season as the No. 1 Panthers beat West Aurora 5-0 on Tuesday. Alex Caliva was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI and Alexis Simone 2-for-3 with an RBI for Glenbard North (25-1, 9-1 DuPage Valley Conference), which scored all 5 of its runs in the second inning.

Naperville Central 7, WW South 1:

The No. 10 Redhawks (20-5, 8-1 DVC) scored 3 runs in the first inning and 4 more in the second, keeping pace with Glenbard North heading into today’s showdown in Carol Stream. Laura Dierking singled in 2 runs in the first and Kaitlyn Skarecky had a three-run double in the second. Kelsey Gonzalez went 2-for-2 with a walk and scored 2 runs. Kristina Vizza (9-2) struck out five.

Naperville North 12, West Chicago 3:

Kelsey Ladone was 3-for-4 with 2 RBI and Kailee Budidin 2-for-4 with 4 RBI for the Huskies (15-8, 7-3 DVC), who jumped out to an 8-1 lead after two innings in West Chicago. Tara Degl’Innocenti went 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI for Naperville North. Rachael Venchus homered for West Chicago.

Lisle 4, Sandwich 0:

Mackenzie Buchelt belted her ninth homer of the year and Melanie Early (13-2) threw a three-hitter, striking out seven, for the Lions (21-3, 11-3 Interstate Eight Conference), who ran their win streak to 11 straight. Kellie Brennan was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Wheaton North 5, Glenbard East 4:

The Falcons (4-19, 2-8 DVC) escaped a bases-loaded, none-out jam in the bottom of the seventh to preserve the win in Lombard. Kat Meyer homered and drove in 2 runs and Kelly Thornton was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI for Wheaton North.

St. Francis 5, Wheaton Academy 2:

Alyssa Fernandez slugged her sixth homer of the year for the Spartans (23-2, 13-1 Suburban Christian Conference Blue). Bekah Heubner recorded her 100th career hit for Wheaton Academy (9-16, 5-10 Suburban Christian Conference Gold).

South Elgin 4, Lake Park 3:

Sam Bolin’s two-run single capped the Storm’s three-run rally in the top of the seventh in Roselle. Stephanie Starr homered and doubled for Lake Park (18-11, 11-4 Upstate Eight Valley).

Benet 5, Bishop McNamara 2:

Kendall Duffy went 2-for-3 and scored 2 runs, her two-run single keying a four-run third inning for the No. 3 Redwings (23-4, 8-2 East Suburban Catholic), who with the win remained a game ahead of Bishop McNamara and Marian Catholic in the conference race. Molly Moran struck out three.

Glenbard South 8, Elmwood Park 0:

Stephanie Chitkowski (9-2) struck out 13, one-hitting host Elmwood Park for the No. 9 Raiders (23-3, 10-0 Metro Suburban Conference). Taryn Andros doubled twice and drove in a run and Brianna Meath was 2-for-3 with 3 runs scored.

Immaculate Conception 11, Guerin 0:

Gabby Davis drove in 5 runs, Megan Sutton doubled twice and Jessica Conenna (17-5) tossed a one-hitter with 5 strikeouts for the Knights (23-6, 14-1 Suburban Christian Conference Gold). Jocelyn Sanchez had 4 RBI and Katelyn Conenna doubled in 2 runs.
